Adventure With Christ

If you’re here, hello! If you’re not here…. not sure how you’re reading this, but okay.

Starting a blog is kinda awkward… Let’s start with who I am. My name is Ashley. I’m 21 years old and I seek adventure. Not the cheap thrills of this world that last for a second and leave your bank account bruised and maybe your face too… Nay! I seek real adventure: Adventure I can only find in God as a christian going about His business.

I live in Texas with my family of 11 people. Among those 11 people are my wonderful parents Shawn and Alison. Now they’re great and all, but what you’ll really be fascinated to know is my “sibling situation”- I have 8 (count ’em) EIGHT BROTHERS (for now). All younger. Yep, all male…. I’m not making this up. So you could say my life is already an adventure! My oldest younger brother (that’s a weird way to put it!) is 19 and my youngest brother is 1 year old.

Being the oldest of 9 brings it’s own challenges, but being the oldest AND only girl is something special. Let’s just say I should be pretty well versed in parenting by the time I’m expecting my first child someday…. and that leads me (very awkwardly) to the next fact about moi.

I’m a single Pringle.

Yes, you read that right, and no I don’t like Pringles. The season of life I’m in right now is singlehood. I’m a proud supporter of February 14th or Singles Awareness Day (SAD). But I’m not really sad! I’m waiting on God to provide me a godly husband in His time. No rush… but my goal is to be married by 22 which gives me about 11 months to meet, get to know, and marry the guy! Yeah, no….. I’ll just simmer down and keep going about life serving God while He works it out. But God, if you’re reading this, don’t forget about me! πŸ˜‰

The next question going through your mind right now is probably this:

“Why the blog Ashley? What could you possibly have to say that may prove to be beneficial to the world? Do you even have a plan?? A VISION???”

Now it’s your turn to simmer down! This blog is all about my adventure with Christ. I plan on going on missions trips in the upcoming months, sharing my experiences and thoughts with you, and maybe sometimes making you laugh. I might even throw in some recipes *wink wink*. My blog will rival Pioneer Woman!!! Just kidding, she’s like way cool…

But, most of all, I hope this blog and all of it’s future posts will inspire you to live for God and let him take the lead. Life is better, color is brighter, experiences more meaningful! That’s not to say my life is or will be some magical ride with no problems and smooth sailing. Every roller coaster has a peak and a drop. Every mountain range has its valleys. Every free way has its rush hour. Every ocean has it’s hurricanes. Every silver lining has its cloud! That’s not the saying, but you catch my drift! Life isn’t always easy, but life is always easier with God. (Someone write that quote down quick!)

I hope something I write here will inspire you, help you or even just make you smile. The final thing I want to say in this first blog post is this:

I want my life to fulfill the Great Commission.

“Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” -Matthew 28:19-20 KJV

And amen!

Seek Adventure!

Ashley Tackett

  1. Wow, Ash! Joining the blog world, huh? Don’t chase after pioneer woman or anyone else’s style. Your unique character/life/adventures is your angle. Just share you.

Ps. I met Charlie 2 weeks before my 23rd birthday and we weren’t married until I was 24. There’s plenty of life to live in the mean time. Don’t rush. πŸ˜‰
